NON DESTRUCTIVE TESTING

The processes of Non Destructive Testing (NDT) are used to test component materials for integrity without destroying the item, to ensure that it is fit for the purpose for which it is to be used.

The most common methods from this group are Liquid Penetrant Inspection (LPI) and Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI). The most common name for this group is Surface (Crack) Flaw Detection.

N.B. A crack is just one form/type of flaw or discontinuity.

The processes of NDT can be divided into two groups of methods, one group test the internal integrity of materials for example; Ultrasonic Testing (UT) the other group contains methods which test the surface integrity of components.

Ultra Violet Light is used to inspect Fluorescent indications revealed by both the Penetrant and Magnetic Methods.

The Crack Detection Methods available at AEP will meet most International and National standards and specifications.
